TLS Exported Attestation (expat) BoF

This BoF proposes to standardize a post-handshake exchange for TLS that enables the attestation of one or both TLS endpoints, which would provide a much stronger assurance of trustworthiness to meet the security demands for IoT devices and confidential workloads. This would help prevent attacks that might compromise a system even if its traditional credentials remain valid, and enables authorization policies based on richer security signals. The scope of this effort is on IoT devices, confidential computing workloads and similar closed environments; attestation of workloads on the open Internet is not in scope.

This BoF proposes a working group to define mechanisms for websites to identify non-browser clients (bots), a need which is becoming stronger as non-browser traffic on the Web grows in volume and importance. Protocol for Transposed Transactions over HTTP (PTTH) BoF

To help improve options for migration between service providers and cross-vendor integration, this BoF will discuss an emerging set of use cases which reverse the usual HTTP architecture of clients making requests for responses from servers. In these specialized cases, the server needs to know how to reach clients. This is the case, for example, when a server is only intended to be accessed directly by a small number of clients,, the server knows how to reach these approved clients, and the server is not widely accessible by arbitrary clients due to security or routing constraints. Currently, there are multiple proprietary or vendor-specific deployed solutions for each of these use cases.
